The 1st Battalion was in India and Burma for the duration of WW2 and became part of the Chindits - Pagri flashes - worn on the slouch hat or sun helmet.

The 5th and 9th Battalions also, wore them as arm flashes while serving with the 55th Division, the 5th wearing them horizontally and the 9th vertically.
