cWWII 1st Pattern Northern Command Printed Formation Sign Patch Flash

WW2 1st Patt Northern Command badge. Removed from album (glue to reverse) otherwise, VGC.

A green apple on a dark blue diamond. This pattern was worn until the end of 1946 and was then superseded by the red cross on the black shield with the five gold or yellow lions. The apple was chosen for the 1st pattern as a biblical reference to Adam's apple, as the first CO of the wartime command was General Sir Ronald Adam.
