The London County Council (LCC) King's Medal
From 1909 until 1920, the London County Council awarded a special prize known as "The King's Medal" to British schoolchildren. With an additional 2 x oak leave bars and the 1919-20 attendance bar. VGC.
It was designed to promote excellence, specifically honoring kids who achieved exceptional records in attendance, conduct, and industry throughout the academic year.
The medals were usually struck in white metal, bronze, or a gold-colored finish. They typically featured the profile of King George V (or King Edward VII in the earliest versions) on the front, suspended from a bar showing the academic year and an "L.C.C." clasp.
End of an Era: The final academic year these historic school medals were distributed was 1919–1920.
