The Royal Marine Artillery (RMA) was an elite, specialized branch of the British Royal Marines. Established in 1804, these "Blue Marines" manned heavy ship guns and land-based siege artillery. They were formally amalgamated with the infantry wing in 1923, though their heritage lives on in modern commando operations.
