Introduced in 1950, it was worn by the 2nd Battalion South Staffordshire Regiment as a Glider Combination Shoulder Title and later just the Glider - Staffordshire Regt (Prince of Wales's).

The badge represents the regiment's participation in airborne operations (Scilly) and was worn on the upper right arm.
