Army Remount Department India Officer’s Cap Badge by J.R. Gaunt

Indian Army, Remount Dept. A good scarce silvered example by JR Gaunt, London comprising a horse standing on grass, resting in a curved scroll inscribed “Army Remount Department' with “India” below. Two loops to reverse.

The Army Remount Department was formed in circa 1875 at Soharanpur but badges were not authorised until 1931 (Indian Dress Regulations 1931 para 179).
