1970 only, R.R.G.H. proposed merger (Glosters and Hants) ano staybrite shoulder title on lugs. VGC.

The Gloucester Regiment narrowly avoided amalgamation with the Royal Hampshire Regiment in 1970. The Government at the last minute agreed to each Battalion losing a Company. Therefore, the amalgamation was cancelled, albeit after the badges were stuck and manufactured. The Glos Regt celebrated its tercentenary in early March 1994; 300 years since the raising of Gibson's Regiment of Foot.
